Sandbanks

Godel Architects were approached by a developer-client to design a collection of homes in St Clement, to fulfill a range of market-types, on the site of the former Samares Coast Hotel.  This development consists of several houses and apartments, brought together with sensitive and intelligent use of the site.  The houses face an internal green, reminiscent of the tradition English village, and the apartments and town houses are orientated to take in the attractive views over the beach.

The architectural design of the development is bright and crisp, successfully bringing together a number of disparate building-types.  This includes 11 apartments, each beautifully spatially designed, with views out to the beach and beyond, the penthouses commanding particularly stunning views from the living spaces, directed so as to take in the very best of the vistas.  The four 3 bedroomed townhouses are quite vertical in nature and each boasts a sky lounge and two terraces, making them very flexible to use.  Additionally, the fourteen 4 bedroomed, 3 storey terrace houses were designed simply and traditionally, in order to provide a house-type that provides spaces and separations to support high-quality, comfortable family life.

One of the Planning requirements for this type of project is to provide a work of art or design to enhance the development.  For this, Godel Architects designed and detailed a beautiful inlaid granite compass at the entrance of the development, which creates a memorable and distinctive feature.
