Navigator Restaurant
The original restaurant had severe limitations in that the eating area was enclosed by a canvas enclosure which leaked and provided very little protection from the elements.
The scheme involved the removal of the temporary enclosure and its replacement by a new permanent structure which would take full advantage of the views and maximise the number of covers, as well as providing better cooking and toilet facilities.
Achieved on a tight budget, the restaurant is now able to open year round, and through the use of sliding folding doors, is able to be opened up to the outside when weather permits.
The design is intended to reflect the seaside location, and hopefully to create a focus of visual interest without being too strident or diverting attention from the picturesque nature of the bay as a whole.
