Le Marais

The house located on the outskirts of St Ouen’s village, benefits from a large garden and rural outlook. Previously refurbished in the 1980’s, the house was aesthetically and architecturally unremarkable and the Clients wished to upgrade both the interior & exterior of the building to create an attractive, airy home and to adapt the building to a more modern way of living.

This was achieved by the refurbishment and extension of the house. The new, contemporary extension houses a new kitchen, dining and seating area. The reconfiguration of the interior opened up spaces to work better for the Clients and the rooms are now airy and filled with light, with full height glazing, providing views in all directions; and the three large roof lights in the kitchen extension flood the room with natural light in all weathers.

Externally, outdated features on the retained sections of the original house were replaced with contemporary finishes & fittings, to harmonise with the new extension and external timber clad garden room; including new aluminium doors & windows, zinc roofing & entrance canopy, and new render & timber cladding.
