La Vielle Maison
The project involved the refurbishment of an existing dilapidated property, which was little more than rubble in places, sited in a secluded valley location.
The aim of this scheme was to develop the building to create a family home, and to bring the architecture back to its former glory. This was done with painstaking care; re-establishing the considered main, front elevation and re-building parts faithfully to the language and details of Jersey traditional architecture. To the rear, a sensitively designed extension allowed the property to evolve into a good-sized family home, suitable for modern living, whilst maintaining the property’s overall scale and proportions. This included bringing the building’s thermal performance and energy efficiency to modern standards. The house now standing is a fine example of a sustainable approach to the provision of a dwelling, that will serve the current residents for many years to come.
The project was completed 2011.
