La Rosiere

Godel Architects were appointed by the clients to design and deliver the internal remodeling and refurbishment of a Grade 3 Listed, 18th Century house in St Saviour. This included the conversion of an existing 1970s swimming pool hall, to a family kitchen, dining area and snug.

The main aim of the works was to breathe life into the old house by reintroducing the charm and detail of the period part of the property, to bring it back to its former glory; as in the past it had fallen victim to severe and unsympathetic internal alterations. The 20th Century pool extension was also improved with similar architectural treatments to those applied to the house, to make the whole building appear homogenous. The challenge was to integrate very disparate architectures into one design, and to treat the overall building in a way to make it feel and look congruous and purposeful.

The result is a beautiful house; filled with charming vintage character and details, appropriate to the type and historic period of the main house, whilst still providing the clients with a naturally-flowing home that offers all modern conveniences.
